CFB

Compact Jet Sweeper

The CFB was developed for clearing snow from airport runways, taxiways and aprons. Due to its compact design and front mounted rotary brush, the jet sweeper is highly manoeuvrable and reliably clears snow and slush with a clearing width of 4,500 mm.

 

Drive unit
Carrier vehicles with four-wheel-drive are used for the CFB. An MB Type OM 501 LA engine is used to drive the hydraulic pumps and to control the sweeping unit and high pressure blower with an output of 260 kW at 1,800 rpm.

 

Sweeping Unit
The sweeping unit is mounted in the front of the carrier vehicle. This means that the CFB can efficiently clear both snow and slush. The brush is powered by two hydraulic engines. A hydraulic cylinder enables swivelling to the left and right. The rotary brush is suspended, which makes horizontal adjustment to the sweeping surface possible. Two castor wheels guide the rotary brush.

 

High Pressure Blower
The high performance blower is driven by an auxiliary engine via a variable pump. The fan can be turned on or off by activating / deactivating the pump. The blower was developed to produce an efficient fan output capacity. The air speed is almost constant over the entire air outlet. This keeps the pressure and capacity on a high level. The air is blown at the rear of the CFB just above the ground to dry the swept surface or remove any remaining snow. Apart from the blower housing, there are no moveable parts. When in the transport position, none of the parts stick out behind or to the side. This means that driving backwards is not dangerous.

 

Snow Plough
As an alternative to the rotary brush, the CFB can be equipped with a snow plough. Both the MS 56.1 and the MS 64.1 airport snow ploughs are ideally suited for this purpose.
